Sadeq Hedayat (1903-1951) was one of the 20th Century's greatest writers. Born in Iran and educated in France, his works are profoundly influenced by the sense of alienation and self-destruction which pervaded post-WWI European literature. Hedayat was also known as a gifted intellectual and essayist in his native country. This collection of short stories reflect the many aspects of this brilliant writer. The title story, "Mister Bow-Wow," is an excellent satire of certain Iranian social norms.
